Gently as the wind brushes by

Nestled in its arms I lie.

In the grass watching leaves that sway,

Makes me wish for fonder days

See how the stars, the clouds conceal,

But not the moon, only his true face unrevealed.

He still shines bright in the cold dark sky

Illuminating all things hidden and you and I

As the warm haze a blanket lays between the moon and I

Thoughts drift to you and the way I feel and why?

As I fall half asleep,

I’m glad of the memories I keep.

 I don’t regret a single one,

None of the laughter, none of the fun,

None of the hunger,

   None of the anger.

Could it have been something more?

That will remain forever an unchosen door.

But at this moment, looking back, I smile,

If only, if only for awhile.
