If Ever
In Vain

I have not the skill to pen

All the graces bestowed to him

I would pray it would be,

A wish, a dream be given me

But just for one hour to lie

Lost there drowning in his eyes

To feel his touch, his caress

   His lips upon me pressed

I would so truly be blessed

For this I wish and nothing less

From his lips a kiss taken

   Life given, my soul awakened

A single touch but from his hand

   Flesh knowing, obeying his command

Passion embodied, desire sustained

All of me and every part

       Seeks and cries his name
