He pleaded with me to touch his skin
Encouraged by love and wine
While his hands tried their path
To wander over mine
He had long given chase in arguments and debates
Why we should be lovers
Confessions of love and loyalty
To get me under covers
Talk of roses and faded blooms
And wasting not our lives
Was to, I guess cause me to swoon
And easily give up the fight
Do you think it will work on me?
Using what I write
And how our time is fleeting
And we are all but dust
No faster fleeting than is your love
When completed is your lust
If to win me by debate
Be sure you are my equal
Nothing lower does rate
Than a poorly redone sequel
You might possibly rate higher
If you tried being kind
Little you could do right now
Would ever change my mind
Your new tactic? To wear me down.
Possibly exhaust me?
In your persistence to lay me down?
But only sleep will this cost me!
He begged me, bade me
“Please touch my skin”
Till at last I begged him
Please touch me once again
