Lovers Debate

Take the easy way out!

Bread from a stone, this world and more!

Pick any and every temptations allure!

Use reason not passion, this I implore!

If I asked would you do it for me?

Take up your cross to set them all free?

That was all I wanted to know.

Now I'll take your cross and go.

He that I have named your chosen one.

Go yee now and kill thy son!

Why? What can you mean?

This perversion of love has become obscene!

If I asked would you do it for me?

Give up your child to make them see?

That was all I wanted to know.

Now the two of you can go.

And what of the promises you made?

You will leave them rotting in the grave?

Saved by a sacrificial ram!

But not so the son of the Great I Am!

If I asked would you do it for me?

Give up everything to save your enemy?

That was all I wanted to know.

You stay with those you love, I'll be the one to go.

No servant is greater than his master!

So you will be brought to the edge of disaster!

Pain and despair, alone and bereaved!

Won't you stay in the garden with me?

If I asked would you do it for me?

Lay silent and accused, battered and bruised, and nailed to a tree?

That was all I wanted to know.

Instead I'll take your nails and crown and go.

There is a price to be paid!

For the key to set free!

All men now enslaved!

And all those yet to be!
