If Ever
In Vain

Stumbled upon you and I have found

Broken pieces strewn about the ground

All this pain that you concealed

   Then suddenly, sadly revealed

After your confessions, I will stay

Take comfort, I will not turn away

My hand, your pain moves, to lift your chin

My eyes tearful to hear where you have been

My heart full of compassion and care

It’s safe to lay your worries there

You were shattered and needed a friend

I have a smile to you I’ll lend

Stay here and rest your head awhile

I’ll share your burdens and again you’ll smile
